Underwear – Secrets to choosing the right inner wear… It is important that underwear be both supportive and comfortable. It’s best to buy a good fit in inner wear – you’ll find that the pant measurements usually match the waist size, and buying undergarments that comfortably fit your waist will usually ensure a good overall fit.   Above all, do not buy undergarments that are a little small, as this is restricting and can make you feel hot and uncomfortable. Also, raised temperatures around the groin are a factor that has been proven to cause infertility.   Another consideration is the elastic, which should always be of good quality, and a perfect fit. Ill fitting waist elastic can leave you with skin irritation or a rash. While some people prefer to buy a size too large so as to be more comfortable, this isn’t recommended either. Undergarments that are too large can interfere with the ‘fall’ of your clothes, spoiling a perfectly good ensemble, and making it look unsightly. Here’s a short rundown of different styles of undergarments… Boxers Boxers look rather like shorts. They usually have a fly, which is either open, or closed with a fastener. These are among the most comfortable of all undergarments, but they do not provide support. They are very good sleepwear, however, they sometimes tend to interfere with the fall and drape of trousers. There’s plenty of choice in patterns and designs. Briefs Then there are briefs – these a form-fitting, and have elastic openings for the legs, and an elastic waistband as well. The fly is usually made of overlapping material. This sort of undergarments give excellent support. These undergarments are usually available in different colors, and it is sometimes possible to have them in different designs and styles.   These are the most popular undergarments for those who engage in sports or other physical activity. However, as these undergarments are made of elastic material, they can lose their shape over time – when this happens, it is best to replace them. Boxer-Briefs These undergarments are usually used by those who engage in sports where the outerwear is loose and might become revealing. Boxer-briefs provide both coverage as well as support. The legs of these garments can extend down to mid-thigh, and are of elastic material that conforms to the shape of the body.   These garments can be worn under any sort of outerwear without bunching and interfering with the fall and drape of your clothes. These are available in different colors, and in all sorts of shades. Thongs Thongs are considered uncomfortable by many men, and are not recommended for everyday use, and especially not for sports or physical activity. A variation of the thong is the g-string. These garments are best suited to the bedroom, rather than for everyday wear. Mono-color is usually the norm for thongs and g-strings. Bikinis Bikinis are very common among women, but bikini undergarments are also a style used by men. However, they are generally considered bedroom wear among men, rather than undergarments for everyday use. However, they have a lower waist, which makes them ideal for those who prefer low-cut jeans. Thermal Underwear And then, of course, there’s thermal undergarments, which are elastic and fit the form, and which cover the body under the clothes. Many styles come with both tights and upper garments with long sleeves. These are usually of insulating material, and are excellent winter wear. Fabrics It goes without saying that the fabric that your undergarments are made of is crucial to whether you even find them wearable. Experiment when you buy undergarments to see what suits you – you’re looking for comfort, warmth (or, in a hot climate, coolness), support, wearability with your outerwear, and flexibility.   Remember that it’s perfectly acceptable – indeed, it is recommended – to have different sets of undergarments for different purposes – a few sets for sleepwear, others for everyday use, and special undergarments for sports wear. You might also want to have different undergarments for seasonal use.
